In Zamora, there are many churches, from which the Cathedral stands out par excellence. It’s certainly not as big, decorated, or fancy as the Cathedrals of León or Burgos, but its romantic style is what makes it special. Although walking down Balborraz Street might be a bit difficult due to its big slope, the great variety of artisan and craft shops throughout this street makes the walk quite pleasant. Zamora’s solemn and silent Holy Week (Semana Santa) has been declared an International Tourist Interest in Spain. The town gets crowded every Easter with locals and tourists who want to experience the Holy Week’s processions (“procesiones de Semana Santa”). And as if all that was not enough, this Castilian town is touched by the Douro River (Río Duero) in a very special way. Besides, Zamora has a small charming castle too.
